Sony Pictures came to be what they are today when they purchased the MGM Studios from the Warner Bros. This all took place in 1990 because the Warner Bros. were obtaining all of the possessions of Lorimar instead. It took a good three years for the Studios to develop. They had to do a lot of work and make many changes to the place to get it to a current 45-acre production facility. The studio was finally ready to go by 1997.

A whole new world

When Sony first got the land for their facility, there was not much there and they had to do many renovations. They decided that they would spend $100 million to restore the studio and make it better for everyone involved. Every building received new paint to make it come to life and be more enjoyable to work in. They also named some of the buildings after major stars like Judy Garland, Burt Lancaster and Rita Hayworth. All new walls were built and the front gates were refurbished. With all of the work put into this new studio, it soon became one of the most striking ones in all of Hollywood.
