A brief history

The area where Exposition Park is located is owned by the state of California because it is a public space. All of the major operations described above are located in Exposition Park and are operated by both the state and Los Angeles County. The 160-acre area used to be an agricultural fairground from 1872-1910. It was called Agricultural Park and it was a place for farmers to sell harvest and for horses to race on tracks. Soon, the rose gardens of Exposition Park replaced the racetracks and it became what it is today.
